Authorities say a 20-year-old man was killed Saturday in a two-car crash in Pacific Palisades. The crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. at 17100 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles Fire spokeswoman d’Lisa Davies said.

Brown Berets De Aztlan Hold Protest Over Shooting

About 100 activists with the Brown Berets de Aztlan marched in downtown Riverside Saturday to protest the Jan. 21 deputy-involved shooting that left one of their members dead. Sheriff’s deputies said Annette Garcia of Perris had a knife when deputies arrived at her Lake Mathews home in the 16900 block of Lake Mathews Drive in response to a 7:58 p.m. report of a person threatening suicide, but activists have questioned the need to open fire on the woman.

Cops, Neighbor Rescue O.C. Man From Burning Home

Two Cypress police officers and a neighbor rescued an unconscious Cypress man from his burning house Saturday, an Orange County Fire Authority captain said. The fire broke out in the smaller of two homes at a property in the 8800 block of La Salle St. just before 7 a.m., OCTA Capt. Greg McKeown said. The resident, a 55-year-old man whose name was unavailable, was taken to UCI Medical Center and was treated for smoke inhalation, he said.

Woman Dies After SUV Rams Into Wall

A woman whose sport utility vehicle barreled off the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, overturned and crashed into a home in Pomona was killed Saturday, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The fatal wreck was reported at 9:34 a.m. along the eastbound side of the freeway just east of Fairplex Drive, CHP Officer David Porter said.

2 Women At LAX Arrested On Illegal Drug Charges

Two women were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Saturday on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs, an airport police sergeant said. Police stopped a four-door sedan at the checkpoint on World Way North just before the road splits for arriving and departing flights about 9:30 a.m., searched the vehicle and handcuffed two women, according to witnesses and Airport Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Wins USC Scripter Award

The writers of “Slumdog Millionaire,” took top honors at the 21st USC Libraries Scripter Award, school officials announced Saturday. The award, which recognizes writers who adapt books and short stories for film, was announced at a Friday night gala at USC, sponsored by the friends

6 Teens Hospitalized After Collapsing At Bookstore

Six teenagers have been treated after they were found disoriented or unconscious at a Valencia bookstore, and drugs are suspected. Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Robert Lewis says deputies went to a Borders bookstore at about 9:45 p.m. Friday after the manager reported finding the teens. Lewis says they appeared disoriented and two were either delirious or unconscious.
